Scorpion Exo 900 is a very unique helmet. It is durable like all other Scorpion helmets, and you don't need to pay a premium price for this great helmet.
This helmet is both DOT and ECE certified. DOT is short for Department of Transport (in USA), while ECE is a certification in Europe. This means that you are getting the kind of helmet that has been thoroughly tested to ensure its quality.
Appearance
The Scorpion Exo 900 was only available in solid colors before August 2011. There were a number of colors to choose from including black, black cherry, matte black, neon, silver and white. Around late August 2011, the version with graphics: Scorpion Exo 900 Furtive was released. The Furtive helmet is available in black or white color, both painted with the name of the helmet "Scorpion Exo 900". The graphics are nicely done, which looks shiny and attractive, while not being fancy.
Flip-face helmet
The Scorpion Exo 900 is a flip-face helmet. You can push up the chin guard, together with the face shield. I highly recommend this type of helmet for riders with glasses. It is just so much more convenient with the movable chin guard. It is also much easier if you want to be able to talk to people, or drink water without taking off your helmet.
Comfort
Comfort is one of the most important aspect for any helmet. The engineers in ScorpionExo® must have spent a good amount of time in testing and designing this helmet. With the KwikWick moisture-absorbent helmet liners and cheek pads, it will keep your head dry and cool. The Aero-tuned system, ventilation of the helmet will allow a decent amount of air flowing through your helmet. Also the featured AirFit inflatable cheek pads will ensure a good fit for your helmet. It will make your riding experience enjoyable.
Face shield and internal sun visor
It has an EverClear no-fog face shield, which is an important feature for any helmets. You really don't want to look through a fogged-up face shield, which might happen to some helmets especially in cold mornings or rainy days. The goggle-like internal sun visor is also extremely handy. It is retractable and you can switch between pulled up or dropped down position using just a single switching tab. Most of the time you don't even need to stop your bike to operate it.
How it got the name Transformer
This is the main reason that it is called the Transformer, as it can really transform. This helmet can be modified from a flip-face helmet to an open-face helmet, by removing the chin guard and face shield. After putting on the peak visor (that comes with the helmet), and dropping down the internal sun visor, you now have a fully functional open-face helmet. This modification process can be completed within ten seconds. This is especially useful if you have a few different bikes like sport bikes, cruiser bikes, scooter etc. The only issue is just that you might find it inconvenient to store the unused parts.
Comm kit friendly
The Scorpion Exo 900 can be modified to integrate your communication system, or any speaker system. There is a window at the left side of the helmet, that you can pop off outer shell. After popping off that outer shell, you can drill a hole through the helmet without affecting the whole integrity of the shell. This can be very useful if you would like to answer phone on your bike, or listen to your GPS instructions.
The features in this helmet are amazing, what's even more amazing is its price. At around 270-290 dollars, it is virtually impossible to find another similar helmet.
