Why Buying Another House in Bethesda, Maryland Is a Sound Decision

I moved to Arlington, Virginia at the age of twelve, and the only solace I founding in having to make new friends and take on a new city, was the fact that my best friend lived a mere twenty minutes away (or forty minutes by metro) in Bethesda, Maryland. I would visit her on weekends, and as we maintained our relationship I developed one with the city of Bethesda itself. A child at the time, I always thought that my parents buying another house there seemed a great idea, yet even now, ten years later, when I visit I remain convinced of my sound real estate advice. Part of the Washington D.C. metropolis, Bethesda lies in Southern Maryland, a stones throw away from our nations capital.
The city itself is a wealthy place, with relatively expensive real estate. Yet the decision to buy another house there is a lifestyle choice and a sure financial investment. It boasts one of the most affluent and highly educated communities in the country, and it has been named on lists that rank it among the most livable U.S. cities and one with the hottest guys (although who decides such subjective things, I could not tell you). There are eight Pulitzer Prize winners living in Bethesda, making it no surprise that it is one of the best educated cities in the nation with a population of 50,000 or more, with over 75% of the residents 25 and over holding Bachelor degrees and over 45% with professional degrees. That being said, for those buying another house with their children in mind, there are terrific public and private schools in the immediate area.
For those working in Washington D.C. (which many residents do), the commute is easy, although there are also lots of companies based in Bethesda, including Ritz Carlton, Marriot International, and Honest Tea, to name a few. These businesses and the cities close proximity to D.C. ensure that those who are looking to buy another house will maintain consistent real estate values, as well as enjoy the benefits of one of the best public transportation systems in the country. Downtown Bethesda has everything one could ever need, from world class shopping, to a farmer's market, to a variety of fitness classes and an eclectic array of restaurants to indulge in afterwards. Every service imaginable is available, and one can even find the second location of the now famous Georgetown Cupcake there. Although I initially ventured north from my Virginia home because my friends mother had decided to buy another house in Bethesda, I continue to visit today because of the city itself, and the plenty it has to offer.
Kiran is a third culture kid, whose love of maps was cultivated from a very young age. Having been raised the daughter of two diplomats, she had visited thirty-six countries by her twenty-first birthday. She has driven across the United States five times, and in light of all her travels, is adamant that America is one of the most beautiful countries on earth.
